A fireplace was installed in a central space in the daily life of farmers. It had functions such as heating, cooking, drying, and lighting, and the position of family members was also indicated by the seats. It was probably a hearth installed on the ground, as seen in pit dwellings, which was continued even in stilt-floored dwellings, and the names Irori and Yururi are probably old words based on the expression of the lifestyle of "being there." For heating purposes, the fire was kept burning when people were present, but it was common to bury the fire in the ashes even when sleeping.
