Habima (English spelling)

Japanese: ハビマ（英語表記）Habima

A Jewish theater company whose name means stage in Hebrew. During the Zionist Congress in Vienna in 1913, Nahum Zemach (1887-1939) came up with the idea of creating plays that would connect the hearts of Jews scattered around the world to Palestine, and four years later, in Moscow, in the midst of the Russian Revolution, he tried to put his idea into action with just 10 theater lovers. He asked Stanislavski for help, and entrusted the leadership to Vakhtangov, who worked hard to establish the Fourth Research Theater attached to the Art Theater.

ヘブライ語で舞台を意味するユダヤ人の劇団。1913年ウィーンでのシオニスト会議の席上，ツェマッハNahum Zemach(1887‐1939)が，各国に分散するユダヤ人の心をパレスティナに結ぶ劇を創造することを思い立ち，4年後，ロシア革命の渦中のモスクワでわずか10名の芝居好きとともにこれを実行に移そうとした。スタニスラフスキーに援助を求めると，ワフタンゴフに指導をゆだね，後者の奔走で〈芸術座〉付属第4研究劇場が結成された。
