Lobby - Lobby (English spelling)

Japanese: ロビー - ろびー(英語表記)lobby
Lobby - Lobby (English spelling)

An anteroom attached to the entrance of a conference hall, theater, hotel, etc. There are various types, such as those connected to the entrance and functioning as a large hall, those that serve as an anteroom, waiting room, or gathering area, and those that also serve as a corridor. Hotel lobbies are broadly divided into two types. One is the main lobby, which is generally located adjacent to the front office at the entrance and is used for interviews with visitors and as a place to rest. The other is a lounge, smoking room, reading room, etc. located elsewhere, and is mainly used for hotel guests to rest.

In addition, the term lobby also means a waiting room where members and lawmakers belonging to the institution in the building can meet with the general public who do not belong to them. The ones in the US Congress and state legislatures are famous, and the word lobbying, which means putting pressure on lawmakers from outside the building, was born from this.
