A type of soil found on plateaus in humid temperate zones. Beneath the acidic humus layer is a layer with yellow-brown markings on a light gray substrate (pseudo-gleyed layer), and the lower the layer, the more the yellow-brown parts predominate, transitioning to a dense silty base material. It develops in places where water temporarily accumulates in the soil layer after snowmelt or seasonal heavy rains, and dries rapidly in summer, causing repeated reduction and oxidation. In Japan, it is found on terraces in Hokkaido and the Tohoku region. → Related topics Gleyed soil | Heavy clay Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
