Japanese: 疑似グライ土 - ぎじグライど

A type of soil found on plateaus in humid temperate zones. Beneath the acidic humus layer is a layer with yellow-brown markings on a light gray substrate (pseudo-gleyed layer), and the lower the layer, the more the yellow-brown parts predominate, transitioning to a dense silty base material. It develops in places where water temporarily accumulates in the soil layer after snowmelt or seasonal heavy rains, and dries rapidly in summer, causing repeated reduction and oxidation. In Japan, it is found on terraces in Hokkaido and the Tohoku region.

湿潤温帯の台地上に分布する土壌型の一つ。酸性腐植層の下に淡灰色の基質に黄褐色の斑紋のある層（疑似グライ層）があり，下位ほど黄褐色部分が優勢で，緻密(ちみつ)なシルト質母材に移る。融雪時や季節的多雨後に一時的に土層中に滞水，夏季には急速に乾燥し，還元と酸化が繰り返されるような所に発達。日本では北海道，東北地方の段丘上に見られる。
