A method of playing shamisen music. When performing formally at a concert venue, the shamisen player (shamisen-kata) generally plays according to a set pattern, but sometimes he will play where there should be a rest, or he will improvise by adding a plectrum to the same interval or beat to add more sounds. This is called adding a plectrum, or using an extra plectrum. [Mari Kano] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
