The Imperialization Policy

Japanese:
The Imperialization Policy
A series of policies implemented mainly during the Fifteen Year War in Korea, Taiwan, Okinawa, and other areas occupied by the Japanese military, to incorporate residents into the wartime mobilization system as loyal subjects of the Empire of Japan. The characteristic of Japan's rule over other ethnic groups is the policy of assimilation, which was precedented in the cases of Okinawa (Ryukyu) and the Ainu, and then extended to colonized Taiwan and Korea. Korea after the Second Sino-Japanese War was a typical example of the policy of making people into Imperial subjects. Under the slogan "Japan and Korea as one," Koreans were forced to visit shrines such as the Korean Shrine, and in October 1937, they were forced to recite the "Oath of Subjects of the Imperial Nation." The following year, the Volunteer Military Order was issued, forcing the common use of Japanese, and in February 1940, the "Creation of Family Names and Names" was implemented, changing people's surnames to Japanese-style surnames.
