A former town in Yazu District, eastern Tottori Prefecture. It lies in the Hatto River basin, with the old post town's main settlement of Yasui on the right bank, and is served by the Wakasa Railway. The Ouginosen area is national forest, and forestry is thriving. Rice, vegetables, and fruit are also produced. 鳥取県東部,八頭(やず)郡の旧町。八東(はっとう)川流域を占め,右岸に旧宿場町の主集落安井があり,若桜(わかさ)鉄道が通じる。扇ノ山(おうぎのせん)一帯は国有林で林業が盛ん。米,蔬菜,果樹も産する。2005年3月八頭郡郡家町,船岡町と合併し八頭町となる。67.51km2。5566人(2003)。
