Japanese: 八田[村] - はった

A village in Nakakoma County in central Yamanashi Prefecture. Population 6,694 (1995). Located in the western part of the Kofu Basin, the Kamanashi River flows to the east and its tributary, the Midai River, flows to the north. The area is made up of the Midai River alluvial fan and the Kamanashi River alluvial plain, and has been used mainly for rice paddies and mulberry fields, but in recent years has been converted into orchards for grapes, peaches, plums, etc. A specialty product is the persimmon. Located near Kofu City, it is being developed into a residential area and the population is on the rise. Hasedera Temple in Enohara is a Shingon sect temple of the Chizan school, said to have been founded by Gyoki, and the main hall is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

山梨県中央部，中巨摩（なかこま）郡の村。人口6694(1995)。甲府盆地西部に位置し，東を釜無川，北をその支流御勅使（みだい）川が流れる。御勅使川扇状地と釜無川沖積地からなり，おもに水田，桑園に利用されてきたが，近年ブドウ，桃，スモモなどの果樹園への転換が進んでいる。特産にころ柿がある。甲府市近郊にあって住宅地化が進み，人口も増加傾向にある。榎原にある長谷寺は行基開創と伝える真言宗智山派の寺で，本堂は国の重要文化財に指定されている。
