Japanese: 鉢花 - はちばな（英語表記）potted‐flower

This is the name for potted plants that bloom, as opposed to potted plants that are primarily grown for their leaves, such as foliage plants. This group mainly includes potted annuals and biennials (primula, cineraria, etc.), perennials (pot mums, dimorphotheca, saintpaulia, begonias, etc.), bulbous flowers (cyclamen, gloxinia, etc.), and flowering trees (temperate hydrangeas, azaleas, etc., and tropical fuchsias, hibiscus, euonymus, etc.), but does not include potted plants that bloom, such as bromeliads and anthuriums.

観葉植物のように葉を観賞することを主体とする鉢物に対し，花の咲く鉢物の呼名。鉢植えの一･二年草(プリムラ，シネラリアなど)，多年草(ポットマム，ディモルフォセカ，セントポーリア，ベゴニアなど)，球根性の草花(シクラメン，グロキシニアなど)，花木(温帯産のアジサイ，アザレアなどと熱帯産のフクシア，ハイビスカス，ハナキリンなど)が中心で，観葉植物でも花の咲くアナナス類やアンスリウムなどはこの仲間に含めない。
