Mr. Hatano

Japanese: 波多野氏 - はたのうじ
Mr. Hatano
A medieval military commander and local lord of Tamba. In the past, Hatano Yoshishige, a local lord in Echizen, was known as a patron of Dogen. The family served as Kyoto-based retainers of the Rokuhara Tandai in the late Kamakura period, and then as a councilor for the Muromachi shogunate. The Hatano clan of Tamba was originally a branch of the Yoshimi clan, a local lord in Iwami. Yoshimi Kiyohide served Hosokawa Katsumoto, took his mother's surname and called himself Hatano, and was promoted for his military achievements during the Onin War. He was appointed as the small shugodai of Tanba Taki County, a branch of the Hosokawa clan, and became the lord of Yakami Castle, gradually becoming independent. Tanemichi (Hidetada), a descendant of Kiyohide, rebelled against Hosokawa Takakuni in 1526 (Oei 6) and had an affair with Harumoto, and in 1540 (Tenbun 9), he married his daughter to Miyoshi Nagayoshi, making him Nagayoshi's father-in-law.
