Hatasho [town] - Hatasho
A former town in Aichi County in the central eastern part of Shiga Prefecture. Part of the grain belt in the eastern part of Lake Biwa, it produces rice, wheat, and vegetables. Specialties include pears, Chinese yams, and grapes. Linen weaving has been popular for a long time. In recent years, the town has been attracting factories. In February 2006, it merged with Aichigawa Town in Aichi County to become Aisho Town in Aichi County. Area: 25.04 km2 . Population: 7,875 (2003).
