Japanese: 伊予三島[市] - いよみしま

An old city in eastern Ehime Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. The main urban areas of Iyomishima and Samukawa are located in the plains facing the Hiuchi Nada Sea, and are accessed by the Yosan Line and Matsuyama Expressway. Along with the former Kawanoe City to the east, the papermaking industry has developed using the waters of the Dozan River, with many factories producing Western paper, Senka paper, and copy paper, and Samukawa also has a handmade paper factory. Mizuhiki crafts and ginger are local specialties. Lake Kinza, a lake formed by the damming of the Dozan River, is a popular tourist destination. In April 2004, it merged with Kawanoe City, Uma District's Shingu Village, and Doi Town to form Shikokuchuo City. Area: 185.11 ^km2 . Population: 38,044 (2003).

愛媛県東部の旧市。1954年市制。燧灘(ひうちなだ)に面する平野部に伊予三島，寒川(さんがわ)の主要市街地があり予讃線，松山自動車道が通じる。東隣の旧川之江市とともに銅山川の水を利用する製紙工業が発達，洋紙，泉貨紙，コピー紙の工場が多く，寒川には手すき工場もある。水引細工，ショウガを特産。銅山川の堰止(せきとめ)湖の金砂湖は行楽地。2004年４月川之江市，宇摩郡新宮村，土居町と合併し，四国中央市となる。185.11km²。３万8044人（2003）。
