…Stavkirke (staved churches), a style of church architecture that was introduced to Norway in the 11th century and flourished there, is a unique architectural art that can only be seen in its complete form in Norway today. Similarly, there are also some unique works of art in 20th century Norway, even if they are not original to Norway. These include Undset's historical novel "Kristinn Labransdatter", which vividly depicts the medieval world, the "Three Masters of Flask Paintings" whose culmination is the murals in Oslo City Hall, murals by Axel Revold (1887-1962), Alf Rolfsen (1895-1979), Per Krohg (1889-1965), and others, and works by Harald Sæverud, who wrote the anti-romantic stage music for "Peer Gynt" (1948).
