A shabby residence for the emperor made from timber that had not been peeled. When Emperor Go-Daigo was exiled to Oki during the Genkō Rebellion, a story appears in the Taiheiki that he built a Kuroki palace there and used it as the imperial palace. It is also called "Kuroki no Yako", and the Jikkunsho contains a story about Emperor Tenchi building a Kuroki palace out of logs in Asakura, Kamiza County, Chikuzen Province. Kuroki no Yako was sometimes used to refer to the palace of a nun (Goyudono Jounal). White wood/black wood [Iikura Harutake] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
