Actor education - Hiyukyoiku

Japanese: 俳優教育 - はいゆうきょういく

Teaching the practical skills and basic knowledge necessary for an actor. Before the modern era, the education of actors was generally based on an apprenticeship system within a performing troupe, where actors learned experientially by helping with practical activities such as rehearsals and performances, both in the East and the West. Public educational institutions that systematically taught the practical training, theoretical knowledge, and culture necessary for actors were established quite late in Western countries, and the first such institution is said to be the German Dramatic Academy, founded in Schwerin (1753) by the famous early modern German actor K. Eckhoff.

俳優として必要な実技や基礎知識を教授すること。近代以前の俳優教育は，稽古や公演などの実際活動を手伝いながら経験的に学習する上演集団内の徒弟制度的な見習い方式が，洋の東西を問わず一般的であった。俳優として必要な実技訓練や理論的知識や教養を組織的に教授する公的教育機関が西欧諸国に設立されるのはかなりおそく，近世ドイツの名優K.エクホーフが〈ドイツ演劇アカデミー〉をシュベリンに設立(1753)したのが初めといわれる。
