A fusion reactor has a blanket around the super-hot plasma that forms the core, where tritium fuel is multiplied and the high temperatures required for power generation are generated. A fusion-fission hybrid reactor, simply a hybrid reactor, or a mixed reactor, is one in which fission reactor materials such as uranium or thorium are added to the blanket and irradiated with high-speed neutrons (about 14 MeV) emitted from the core. The following two methods of using hybrid reactors are mainly being considered: Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
