A monk who performs the solo recitation of the chanting song (song) in Buddhist ceremonies. There are two types of Buddhist ceremonies: exoteric Buddhism and esoteric Buddhism. In exoteric Buddhism, four songs are recited: Uta, Sanka, Bonnon, and Shakujo, while in esoteric Buddhism, two songs are recited: Uta and Sanka. In principle, only Uta is a solo song, and it is characterized by being recited in a low voice by a relatively elderly monk. There are several different lyrics depending on the nature of the ceremony, and sometimes two people, known as the two singers, sing together for the sake of presentation.
