British politician. Born into a Scottish aristocrat, he entered the royal court as chamberlain and tutor to George III when he was still Prince of Wales. In 1762, George III appointed him Secretary of State in the Pitt-Newcastle cabinet, and later became Prime Minister (1762-1763).
