Brötzmann of West Germany, who was searching for a way to extend the life of the tuyere of the Thomas converter, conducted an experiment to apply a double-tube tuyere to the Thomas converter, and succeeded in industrializing it in 1968, announcing it as the oxygen bottom blowing method, or OBM for short.
