Nojimazaki

A cape located in the Shirahama district of Minamiboso City in southern Chiba Prefecture. It is located at the southernmost tip of the Boso Peninsula. At its tip is a lighthouse built in 1868. A major earthquake in 1703 (Genroku 16) connected Nojima to form a peninsula, and during the Kanto earthquake of 1923 (Taisho 12), it rose 1.8 meters, forming a large reef area. It is a tourist hub for Minamiboso Quasi-National Park, and is home to hotels, guesthouses, souvenir shops, restaurants, and more. It also has a part-time agricultural and part-fishing business, combining sea-dwelling fishing for abalone and turban shells by female divers and flower cultivation such as marigolds.

千葉県南部、南房総市(みなみぼうそうし)白浜(しらはま)町地区にある岬。房総半島最南端に位置する。突端に1868年建設の灯台がある。1703年（元禄16）の大地震で、野島が半島状につながり、さらに1923年（大正12）の関東地震の際、1.8メートルも隆起し、大岩礁地帯となった。南房総国定公園の観光拠点で、ホテル、民宿、土産(みやげ)物店、食堂などが集中しているが、一方、海女(あま)によるアワビ、サザエなどの磯根(いそね)漁業やキンセンカなどの花栽培を組み合わせた半農半漁業が行われる。
