A pair of stone pillars or a structure with a gate at the bottom and a tall building at the top, erected in front of palaces, shrines, tombs, etc. in China from the Han dynasty to the Six Dynasties period. The only ones that remain are pillar-shaped, and famous ones include the Wu family stone que in Jiaxiang County, Shandong Province, the Feng Huan stone que in Qu County, Sichuan Province, and the Gaoyi stone que in Sichuan Province. Some of them have reliefs of auspicious animals such as lions and vermilion birds, or customs such as singing, dancing, and banquets on their surfaces, giving us an idea of the paintings, sculptures, and customs of the time.
