This refers to Buddhism in Nepal. The indigenous people of Nepal are said to have originally been of Tibetan descent, but with the influx of people of Indian descent such as the Licchavi people, the Buddhism they practiced became established in the area. Queen Thitsung, who married into Tibet from Nepal in the first half of the 7th century, built a Buddhist temple called Jokhang Monastery, and from the second half of the 8th century onwards, Buddhism was officially introduced into Tibet, leading to the establishment and development of Tibetan Buddhism (Lamaism), in which Nepalese Buddhism played an important role.
