Peiwen Yunfu - Peiwen Yunfu

A Chinese dictionary with 106 volumes (later revised to 444 volumes). Compiled by many scholars including Zhang Yushu at the command of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, it was published in 1711 (Kangxi 50). It is a wide collection of idioms and phrases found in Chinese classics and poetry, with the source of each listed and arranged in 106 rhymes by a single character at the end. For example, the Pingsheng Zhenyun entry for "people" contains phrases such as "adult," "saint," "unknown person," "parallel young person," and couplets such as "Autumn scholar, spring person." It is the most complete reference book for composing poetry and for learning examples of classical language usage. Nowadays, there are textbooks that include an index that allows users to look up words by the first character of the word (published by the Shanghai Commercial Press in 1937 and the Taiwan Commercial Press in 1967).

中国の辞書。106巻（のち、444巻に改訂）。清(しん)の康煕(こうき)帝の命により張玉書(ちょうぎょくしょ)ら多数の学者が編纂(へんさん)し、1711年（康煕50）刊行。中国の経書や古典詩文にみえる熟語、成句を広く集め、おのおのに出典を示し、末尾一字により106韻の順序に並べたもの。たとえば、平声(ひょうしょう)真韻の「人」の項には「大人」「聖人」「無名人」「旁若(ぼうじゃく)無人」などの語句、「秋士・春人」などの対句が収められている。詩文をつくる際の、また古典語の用例を知るための参考書としてもっとも完備したものである。現在では、語句の最初の一字で引く索引のついたテキストがある（1937年上海(シャンハイ)商務印書館、1967年台湾商務印書館出版）。
