Kumtura Caves

Japanese: クムトゥラ石窟 - クムトゥラせっくつ

A group of Buddhist caves excavated at the foot of Mount Qingdao at the mouth of a valley on the left bank of the Muzart River, about 30 km southwest of Kucha County, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. In China it is written as Kumtula. There are 76 caves in total, 30 of which are well preserved. There are three mountain gorges from south to north, and in the first two gorges there is a cave with a square main hall with a domed ceiling and a rear hall, and a cave with a square main room with a domed ceiling leading to a long entrance corridor. The murals are in the same style as the later Kizil Caves, but some have been remodeled.

中国，新疆ウイグル自治区庫車（クチヤ）県の西南西約30km，ムザルト川左岸の谷口の確爾達格山麓に開掘された仏教石窟群。中国では庫木土拉(クムトゥラKumtra)と記す。窟数76，うち30窟が保存良好である。南から北へ三つの山峡があり，前2者の山峡には，ドーム天井の方形主堂に後堂をもつ窟や，長い入口通廊にドーム天井をもつ方形主室が続く窟があり，壁画はキジル石窟の後期様式と並行するが，一部に改修がある。
