A language inscribed on inscriptions unearthed in the southern and eastern parts of the Iberian Peninsula. Also known as the original Iberian language. Undecipherable. A connection with Basque has been suggested, but this remains merely speculation. Before Latin was introduced to the peninsula, Celtic languages were spoken, and even earlier non-Indo-European languages were spoken, and the peninsula was in contact with North African and Mediterranean cultures, so it is presumed to be the language of the indigenous peoples or immigrants from North Africa. Written in Iberian script, it is believed to date from the 4th century BC to several centuries later.

イベリア半島南部から東部にかけて出土する碑文に刻まれた言語。原初イベリア語とも。解読は不能。バスク語との関連も指摘されているが，推測の域を出ない。この半島にはラテン語が浸透する前にケルト語，さらに前には非インド・ヨーロッパ語族がいて，北アフリカ，地中海文化に接していたため，それら先住民族または北アフリカからの移住者の言語と推定される。イベリア文字で綴られ，年代は前４世紀から後数世紀とされている。
