A deciduous tree of the Rosaceae family. It is a variety of peach (peach) and is also called oil peach or camellia peach. Its tree shape, leaves, and flowers are indistinguishable from those of peaches, but its fruit is reddish yellow, slightly smaller and spherical than that of peaches, has no hairs on the surface, and is shiny like camellia fruit. This distinguishes it from peach species that have hairs. Many cultivars have been cultivated mainly in Europe. It is said to be native to Central Asia, China, and northern India.
