A city in the central north of Zambia. It is a mining and industrial city located on a plateau at an altitude of 1,300 meters, in the center of the copper mining region that borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In addition to copper smelting, mining machinery manufacturing, and other copper-related industries, various industries such as cement manufacturing and sugar refining are also carried out. It is also a transportation hub where the railway and major roads that run north and south through the country and into neighboring Congo pass through, making it a commercial center. Population: 451,000 (2010).

ザンビアの中北部の都市。国境を接するコンゴ民主共和国へ続く，銅鉱山地帯の中心となる鉱工業都市で，標高1300mの高原上に位置している。銅精錬や鉱山機械製造などの銅生産に関連する工業のほか，セメント製造，砂糖精製など各種の工業も行なわれている。また同国を南北に走り隣国コンゴへのびる鉄道や主要道路も通る交通の要地で，商業の中心ともなっている。人口45万1000人（2010）。
