An Islamic historian and biographer. After traveling around the country, he studied under Waqidi in Baghdad. His main work is the "Great Collection of Biographies," a collection of biographies of about 4,250 people, including about 600 women. Biographies of the Prophet Muhammad make up one-quarter of the total, while the rest are biographies of Muhammad's contemporaries and the successive transmitters and scholars of traditions related to Muhammad.
