Ibn al-Qūṭīya

Ibn al-Qūṭīya
?-978
He was of a distinguished family with Visigothic royal blood and served under the Umayyad dynasty. He was a great scholar of his time, skilled in poetry, grammar and folklore, and even served as a judge in his later years. In addition to an excellent grammar book, he also left behind a book called "History of the Conquest of Andalusia." There are many variant versions of this history book, and it contains inaccurate information, but it is extremely important for historical research of this period, when documents are scarce. Its valuable folklore and anecdotes, centered on court life in Córdoba in the 9th century, are essential materials for understanding the history and customs of the time.
