A grammar book written by Yamada Yoshio. Published in 1908 (partially published in 1902). He critically examined the conventional classification of parts of speech, and developed his own original theory of grammar while referring to Western grammar books. The basic ideas of the so-called "Yamada grammar" were already shown in this book, such as treating auxiliary verbs as compound endings, classifying particles into six types, dividing phrases into evocative and predicative bodies, and discussing perception and statement. It was the earliest system of Japanese grammar to be created, and formed the basis of current research. [Maeda Tomiyoshi] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
