NEC Corporation - Nihon Denki
Commonly known as NEC. A global manufacturer of digital devices such as personal computers, communication devices, and semiconductors. Founded in 1899. Acquired Miyoshi Electric Factory (established in 1883), and the following year American capital joined, becoming part of the Sumitomo Zaibatsu in 1932. During World War II, it was called Sumitomo Communication Industries, and in 1945 it was reverted to NEC. It moved from home appliances to IT devices, producing various communication devices and computers. In recent years, it has become the top company in Japan in information and communication, and in semiconductors it has focused on high-value-added system LSIs, and is also focusing on solutions business. In November 2003, it announced its largest ever capital increase by issuing new shares to improve its financial health and promote information-related investments. Headquarters in Tokyo, business locations in Tamagawa, Fuchu, Sagamihara, and others. Capital in 2011 was 397.1 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 3.1154 trillion yen. Sales composition (%) is ITS 26, Platform 12, Carrier NW 19, Social Infrastructure 10, PSL 25, Others 8. Overseas sales ratio is 15%.
