Melting point -29 °C, boiling point 101.2 °C, 46.6 °C (13.3 kPa), 27.5 °C (5.3 kPa). 1.1322. 1.3806. It is slightly soluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, ether, and dimethylformamide. Its aqueous solution is acidic. It forms salts with alkali metals as nitronic acid, becoming an explosive solid. It is used as a solvent, rocket fuel, surfactant, and pharmaceutical ingredient.
