Clostridium perfringens - Welshkin

A gram-positive rod-shaped bacterium that forms large, oval spores. It is also known as Clostridium perfringens. It has no flagella. Types A to F are known. It is the cause of bacterial food poisoning, and when caused by heat-resistant type A bacteria, symptoms begin with diarrhea and abdominal pain after an incubation period of 8 to 22 hours (average 12 hours). Nausea and vomiting are rare, and fever does not exceed 38°C. Symptoms are generally mild, with complete recovery within 1 to 2 days. It is distributed in the intestines of humans and animals, as well as in soil and water.
