A former town in Nishikasugai County, northwest of Aichi Prefecture. It is located on the right bank of the Shonai River, which flows through the Nobi Plain, and is served by the Tokaido Main Line, Meitetsu Main Line, and Inuyama Line. Adjacent to Nagoya City, it has developed as a suburban residential area and has also seen rapid industrialization. In July 2005, it merged with Kiyosu Town and Shinkawa Town in Nishikasugai County to become a city, Kiyosu City. 3.36 km2 . Population: 16,384 (2003).
