A former town in Kaizu County, in the southwestern tip of Gifu Prefecture. The Ibi River flows along the town's eastern border, and the main settlements are Ota and Komano, which are on the Kintetsu Yoro Line. Mandarin oranges are cultivated on the alluvial fans and slopes, and rice and livestock are also grown. There are also industries such as plastic product manufacturing. There are shell mounds and Gyoki-ji Temple, which is said to have been founded by Gyoki. In March 2005, it merged with Kaizu Town and Hirata Town in Kaizu County to become Kaizu City. 51.81 km2 .
