A humorous story by Muchu Sanjin. Published in 1773 (An'ei 2). 1 volume. Nankei refers to the pleasure quarters of Shinagawa. The story is about a feudal lord who comes from his hometown and is invited by Sawai, a construction official stationed in Edo, to enjoy the pleasure quarters of Shinagawa with construction contractor Chuji, the lumber dealer's young son Kojiro, and carpenter Choshichi. The story vividly depicts the samurai guests of the official who are not treated very well, Chuji who enjoys a lovers' quarrel with a familiar woman, and the innocent Kojiro who falls in love with a prostitute he meets for the first time. 洒落本。夢中山人(むちゆうさんじん)作。1773年(安永2)刊。1冊。南閨は品川の遊里をいう。国元から上った藩の重役人を,江戸詰めの作事役人沢井が,工事請負人忠治や材木屋の若息子幸治郎,大工長七などと品川の遊里に遊ばせるという構成をとる。あまりよくもてなされない役人の武士客や,なじみの女と痴話喧嘩を楽しむ忠治や,初会の女郎に惚れられるうぶな幸治郎などが,いきいきと描かれている。品川を扱った洒落本の代表作。
