Le Corbusier

Born in Switzerland, he was a French architect and painter. His real name was Charles Édouard Jeanneret. After graduating from the School of Arts and Crafts in his hometown of La Chaux-de-Fonds, he worked in the offices of J. Hoffmann in Vienna (1907), T. Garnier in Lyon (1908), A. Perret in Paris (1908-09), and P. Behrens in Berlin (1910-11), learning from these renowned architects. After traveling as far as Greece and Turkey, he settled in Paris in 1917 and began working there.

スイス出身のフランスの建築家，画家。本名ジャンヌレCharles Édouard Jeanneret。故郷ラ･ショー･ド･フォンLa Chaux‐de‐Fondsの工芸学校卒業後，ウィーンのJ.ホフマン(1907)，リヨンのT.ガルニエ(1908)，パリのA.ペレ(1908‐09)，ベルリンのP.ベーレンス(1910‐11)の事務所で働き，これら高名な建築家から多く学ぶ。さらに遠くギリシア，トルコまで旅行した後，1917年パリに定住して仕事をはじめる。
