1887‐1965 Born in Switzerland, he was a French architect and painter. His real name was Charles Édouard Jeanneret. After graduating from the School of Arts and Crafts in his hometown of La Chaux-de-Fonds, he worked in the offices of J. Hoffmann in Vienna (1907), T. Garnier in Lyon (1908), A. Perret in Paris (1908-09), and P. Behrens in Berlin (1910-11), learning from these renowned architects.
