Port Regulations Act

This law aims to ensure the safety of ship traffic within ports and the orderliness of ports. It was enacted in 1948, Law No. 174. It prescribes matters such as notification of entry and departure, anchorage areas, routes and navigation, ships carrying dangerous goods, the preservation of waterways, ship lights and signals, etc. The ports and their areas to which this law applies are determined by government ordinance. Port areas were formerly called port areas, but the specific areas are determined by the Enforcement Order of the Port Regulations Act, and the safety and orderliness of ports are ensured through special administrative supervision of ship traffic within port areas.

港内における船舶交通の安全および港内の整とんを図ることを目的とした法律。昭和23年法律第174号。入出港の届出や停泊区域、航路および航法、危険物を積んだ船舶、水路の保全、船灯および信号などについて規定している。この法律の適用を受ける港およびその区域は、政令で定められている。港の区域は、かつて港域といっていたが、その具体的な区域は、港則法施行令で定め、港の区域内における船舶の交通等に関し、特別の行政的監督を通じて、港内の安全と整とんを図っている。
