This law aims to ensure the safety of ship traffic within ports and the orderliness of ports. It was enacted in 1948, Law No. 174. It prescribes matters such as notification of entry and departure, anchorage areas, routes and navigation, ships carrying dangerous goods, the preservation of waterways, ship lights and signals, etc. The ports and their areas to which this law applies are determined by government ordinance. Port areas were formerly called port areas, but the specific areas are determined by the Enforcement Order of the Port Regulations Act, and the safety and orderliness of ports are ensured through special administrative supervision of ship traffic within port areas.
