A compilation of agricultural and sangyo farming

An officially compiled agricultural textbook compiled by order of Kublai Khan, Emperor of the Yuan Dynasty in China. It was distributed nationwide in 1286 and became the basis of the Yuan Dynasty's agricultural administration. It carefully selects the necessary information from agricultural texts of ancient and modern times, including the "Qimin Yaojutsu," and contains many descriptions of new crops such as cotton, and its contents are highly regarded. It is made up of 10 sections: teachings, plowing, sowing, mulberry planting, sericulture, melon, fruit, bamboo, medicinal herbs, and livestock. No published copies from the Yuan Dynasty remain, and the commonly used version is based on the Buying Palace Collection Edition Complete Books, published during the Qing Dynasty.

中国、元の世祖フビライの命により編集された官撰(かんせん)農書。1286年全国に頒布(はんぷ)され、元朝農政の基本とされた。『斉民要術(せいみんようじゅつ)』をはじめ古今の農書から必要事項を精選し、木綿など新作物の記述も多く、内容は高く評価されている。典訓、耕墾、播種(はしゅ)、栽桑、養蚕、瓜菜(かさい)、果実、竹木、薬草、孳畜(じちく)の10部門から構成される。元代の刊本は現存せず、通行本は清(しん)代に刊行された武英殿聚珍版全書輯本(ぶえいでんしゅうちんばんぜんしょしゅうほん)を底本としている。
