Anrakugyoin Temple

Japanese: 安楽行院 - あんらくぎょういん
Anrakugyoin Temple
The temple was located in Fukakusa, Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City, but was abandoned in 1894. It has been the site of the bones of many emperors since Emperor Gofukakusa. In the Middle Ages it was called Fukakusa Hokkedo, and the temple name first appeared in 1500 (Meiō 9) when Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado died. Records confirm that Anrakukoin, a temple of the Jimyoin lineage (Northern Court), existed in what is now Anrakukoji-cho, Kamigyo Ward, until 1475 (Bunmei 7), and there is a theory that this temple was moved to Fukakusa, but there is no definite proof.
