Kara [River] - From

…the river that flows south from Bulgaria to Greece. It is called the Strymon in Greek and the Kara in Turkish. It originates in the Vitosha Mountains near Sofia, flows south through western Bulgaria, enters Greek territory, and empties into the Strymon Gulf in the Aegean Sea.
