An old town in the eastern part of the Tsugaru Plain, Minamitsugaru District, Aomori Prefecture. It was once a strategic location where the Ushu Kaido and Matsumae Kaido roads split. The Ou Main Line, Tohoku Expressway, and National Route 7 pass through the town. It produces a lot of rice and apples. It is home to the ruins of Namioka Castle (historic site), said to have been the residence of the Kitabatake clan. It was incorporated into Aomori City in April 2005. 132.13 km2 . 青森県南津軽郡，津軽平野東部の旧町。かつては羽州街道と松前街道が分かれる要地であった。奥羽本線，東北自動車道，国道７号線が通じる。米，リンゴを多産。北畠氏の居城といわれる浪岡城跡（史跡）がある。2005年４月青森市へ編入。132.13km2。２万1337人（2003）。
