Namie [town] - Namie
A town in Futaba County in the central-northern part of Hamadori in eastern Fukushima Prefecture. Gongendo, the town's center, is near the confluence of the Murohara River and Takase River, and is a former post station on the Rikuzenhama Kaido road along the Joban Line. There are pharmaceutical and auto part factories here, and Ohori's Soma ware is a local specialty. Uketo, at the river's mouth, is a fishing village. The Joban Expressway and National Route 6 also pass through the town. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 223.14 km2 . 20,905 people (2010).
