Namie [town] - Namie

Japanese: 浪江[町] - なみえ

A town in Futaba County in the central-northern part of Hamadori in eastern Fukushima Prefecture. Gongendo, the town's center, is near the confluence of the Murohara River and Takase River, and is a former post station on the Rikuzenhama Kaido road along the Joban Line. There are pharmaceutical and auto part factories here, and Ohori's Soma ware is a local specialty. Uketo, at the river's mouth, is a fishing village. The Joban Expressway and National Route 6 also pass through the town. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 223.14 ^km2 . 20,905 people (2010).

福島県東部，浜通り中北部の双葉(ふたば)郡の町。中心の権現堂(ごんげんどう)は室原川と高瀬川の合流点付近にあり，陸前浜街道の旧宿駅で常磐線に沿う。製薬・自動車部品などの工場があり，大堀の相馬焼を特産。河口にある請戸(うけと)は漁村。常磐自動車道，国道６号も通じる。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。223.14km²。２万905人（2010）。
