Naphtha cracking

Naphtha cracking
This is a technology that produces basic raw materials for the petrochemical industry, such as ethylene, propylene, benzene, and toluene, by thermally cracking naphtha at high temperatures. In Japan and Western European countries, the demand for automobile gasoline is low compared to other petroleum products, so there is a surplus of naphtha fraction obtained by distilling crude oil. Heavy naphtha is used for automobile gasoline after increasing its octane number, but light naphtha is used as a petrochemical raw material because there is no economical way to increase the octane number.
