Name (Name) - Nabirome

Japanese: 名びろめ(名弘) - なびろめ
Name (Name) - Nabirome
Also written as meihirome or meihoromoku, it means spreading one's name to the public, but it particularly refers to gathering related parties to hold banquets and make greetings around when entertainers or geisha change or take on new names, or when merchants start new businesses or take on their original names, in order to widely publicize their stage names and shop names. When geisha are newly introduced or leaving their stores, they are accompanied by their elder geisha or a box maker who carries a geisha shamisen, and they make greetings around the teahouses and geisha houses they frequent, distributing hand towels with their names on them as business cards. Entertainers also make the rounds distributing hand towels and fans to their patrons, but sometimes they also make a speech on stage.
