Nanao Bay - Nanaowan

Japanese: 七尾湾 - ななおわん
Nanao Bay - Nanaowan

A bay on the east coast of the central part of Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. The bay is divided into South Bay, West Bay, and North Bay by Noto Island, which floats in the middle of the bay. Nanao Port is located in the South Bay, and ships enter Toyama Bay via Koguchi Seto. The Notojima Ohashi Bridge was erected in 1982 (Showa 57) across Byobu Seto, which is between the South Bay and West Bay. In 1999 (Heisei 11), the Nakanoto Farm Road Bridge (Twin Bridge Noto) was erected, connecting the eastern end of Noto Island to the peninsula. Wakura Hot Springs is located in the West Bay, and oyster farming is thriving there. North Bay, which is connected to West Bay by Sangaguchi Seto, connects to Toyama Bay via Oguchi Seto, where fixed net fishing for yellowtail and cod is carried out.

Notojima Bridge
This bridge crosses the Byobuseto Strait and connects Noto Island (in the background of the photo) to the Noto Peninsula. It was completed in 1982 (Showa 57) and is 1,050m long. Until then, it took 30 minutes by boat to travel between Noto Island and the peninsula, but with the completion of this bridge, the travel time by car was reduced to just 2 minutes. There is also a great view from the highest point (24.2m) in the center of the bridge, and it is a popular symbol of Noto Island. Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture ©Shogakukan ">
