Panchastikāyasāra (English spelling)

Japanese: パンチャースティカーヤサーラ（英語表記）Pañcāstikāyasāra

This is a doctrinal compendium written by Kundakunda (2nd-3rd century), a famous scholar of the Jain Vasantha sect. The title means "Essence of the Five Gatherings of Beings." The original text was written in vernacular and consists of a total of 173 (or 180) hymns. The book is divided into two parts. The first part is about ontology, explaining the five gatherings of beings (astikayas) such as soul and matter, which are the basic components of the universe, and the second part is devoted to explaining the nine principles (padarthas) that summarize the entire doctrine.

ジャイナ教空衣派の著名な学僧クンダクンダKundakunda(2～3世紀ころ)の著した教義綱要書。題名は〈五つの存在の聚（あつまり）についての精要〉の意。原典は俗語で書かれ，合計173(あるいは180)の詩頌より成る。本書は2編に分かれ，第1編は本体論に関し，宇宙の基本的構成要素である霊魂，物質などの五つの存在の聚(アスティカーヤ)を解説し，第2編は教義全体を要約した九つの原理(パダールタ)の説明にあてられる。
