A bivalve of the Pectinidae family. The shell is 5.5 cm high, 4 cm long, and 1.5 cm wide. It is fan-shaped with triangular wing-like projections in front of and behind the apex, and the right shell has a recess below the wing-like projection, from which the byssus extends and attaches to rocks. The left shell is more bulging than the right, and the surface of the shell has many thin radial ribs extending from the apex, and is beautiful with black-brown spots radially arranged on a yellow, red, or brown background. The right shell is less colored. It is found on the Pacific coast south of the Boso Peninsula, on the Sea of Japan coast south of the Noto Peninsula, in Taiwan, and in China, where it attaches to rocky reefs 20 m deep from the intertidal zone. イタヤガイ科の二枚貝。殻の高さ5.5cm,長さ4cm,幅1.5cmになる。扇形で殻頂の前後に三角形の翼状突起があり,右殻の翼状突起の下は湾入してここから足糸を出して岩に付着する。左殻は右殻より膨らみ殻表には殻頂から多くの放射状の細い肋が出,黄色,赤色,褐色などの地色に黒褐色斑が放射状に並ぶなど美しい。右殻では彩色は弱い。太平洋側は房総半島以南,日本海側は能登半島以南,台湾,中国に分布し,潮間帯より水深20mの岩礁に付着する。
