Japanese: ナット（英語表記）nut

A general term for a part used in combination with a bolt to fasten objects. It has a female thread cut into the center of the shaft. (1) Hexagonal nut: It has a hexagonal outer shape and is the most commonly used. (2) Square nut: It has a square outer shape and is used for special design purposes or when low cost is required. (3) Wing nut: A nut with a knob so that it can be tightened with the fingers. (4) Eye nut: Used in combination with a stud bolt to transport machinery and equipment. Also called a lifting bracket or eye nut. (5) Welded nut: A nut with a protrusion on one side that is welded to a steel plate. It is used when it is desired to omit the processing of female threads on-site, such as on automobile assembly lines. There are more than twenty other types, including lock nuts, spring plate nuts, and cap nuts.

ボルトと組合せて，物体を締めつけるのに用いる部品の総称。軸心部にめねじが切ってある。 (1) 六角ナット　外形が六角形で，最も一般的に使われる。 (2) 四角ナット　外形が四角形で，特殊な設計目的か低価格を要するときに用いる。 (3) 蝶ナット　指で締めつけられるようにつまみをつけたナット。 (4) アイナット　植込みボルトと組にして機械器具を運搬するのに用いる。吊金具，眼つきナットともいう。 (5) 溶接ナット　ナットの片面に突起部を設け，鋼板に溶接して用いる。自動車の組立てラインなど，現場でのめねじ加工を省略したい場合に使われている。このほか，止めナット，ばね板ナット，袋ナットなど二十数種がある。
