The capital of the Bahamas, in the northwest of the Bahamas. A port city located on the northeast coast of New Providence Island in the northwest of the Bahamas. With its warm climate, beautiful beaches, and beautiful scenery, it is known worldwide as a tourist and health resort. In the 1690s, the city changed its name from Charlestown to its current name, and since 1729, the city has been systematically built. The city area itself is relatively small, but residential areas extend along the coast. In the surrounding area, there is a marine garden with a glass-bottom boat and a botanical garden with rare tropical plants. Paradise Island, connected by a bridge offshore, has casinos, nightclubs, and other facilities, attracting tourists, mainly from the United States. Fort Fincastle (1793) is preserved on a hill in the southern suburbs. Although industry is not well developed, the city exports sisal, sea sponges, citrus fruits, tomatoes, and pineapples.
